Grafton Farm November 2010

Around this time every year we spend a weekend or so up at the Grafton Farm (long time family friends of David's). David does a little hunting, Ella plays around the farm alot, and we just get away to a different country scene for a few days. The hunting wasn't great this year, it was a bit cold for Ella to be out all day . . . . BUT we did get to take her on her first long ride in a big tractor. She was delighted!

Filling the tractor with gas.

Ella's anticipation builds.

She spent the trip glued to the glass pointing out every little thing she could see outside.

AND ended up wearing herself out to the point of passing out on Daddy with her half eaten fresh off the tree apple in hand.

Ella also loved to watch the cows on the property. At one point David asked her if she liked them and if she would like to have a cow. Ella perked up and said, "Yes, Daddy I want that one." and pointed to a little black almost yearling with white face. David says,"Well I don't know about that Ella, you're going to have to ask Bob (our farmer friend who lives on the place)." She immediately looked at Bob and said,"Bob, I would like that one, ok?" Good thing we didn't bring a trailer along, or she might have talked him into letting her have one. :)
A little later she also got to feed the cows. Which was very exciting.

When we would get to the bale holder and drop in the hay, the cows would of course immediately start eating and Ella would cry, "Hooray - we fed the cows. Good-job Bob. Good-job Daddy!"

And finally, we always get our Christmas tree from Bob's Christmas tree farm on the property. This year Ella was old enough to pick one out. At first she picked one WAY too tall to fit in our living room, but after some negotiations we decided on this medium sized tree and she was very happy. For the rest of the season she told everyone,"This is our Christmas tree and Ella picked it out."
