Some Sweet Kitty Love

The little darlin' is her mama's girl in so many ways. One major way is her attachment to the animals. ALL animals. ANY ANIMAL SHE FINDS. Her big sister loves animals too, but there is a different tenderness and understanding with the younger sister. Here are some cute examples of Xena tolerating her affection (and some cute matching pajamas too).

And also - what happened to these sweet, tiny little girls? Why have they been (what seems like suddenly) replaced with an occasionally monstrous 2 YEAR OLD and a KINDERGARTNER??

And . . . . . we're back again (plus an afternoon at the park - April 2013)

So - a few guests, a couple of birthdays, and every body getting more than 1 cold later . . . . . I'm back (sorry for the break, in all the excitement I FORGOT about blogging). Let's see if I can be more consistent (honestly, I'm not holding my breath either, but I have been more consistent in other things I've been working on, so maybe there's a chance).

This is the "dinosaur playground" that both the girls love in a local town. Love these sweet, spunky, beautiful girls!

Random February 2012 Cuteness

(Little Darlin is the true animal girl in the family - the cats run from her sister.)

Again with the matching - I didn't know I would be a "matchy" mama until I had two girls . . .

My view every day when leaving for work  . . . . heartbreaking!!

SNOW!!! (February 2012)

As a family, we love all the seasons. But there is a certain thrill we all get anytime  . . . . it snows! The girls run from window to window and ask to make snowmen. Mama makes hot chocolate (sometimes even from scratch), chili, and hot apple cider (the real stuff we have made ourselves from the apples at a dear friend's farm). Even the farmer enjoys seeing "how slick things are", trying to walk through the drifts, and taking us all on a drive to see the beautiful landscapes. This is one reason I know (at least for now) we were not meant to live in the deep south.

Funny story - Ella was having an absolute blast sledding down the medium sized hill with Daddy. "Faster Daddy - let's do it again, but faster" she would say. THEN they went down super fast and hit a huge snow pile which subsequently sprayed all over her face, covering it completely. Her face was cold and wet, but not hurt in the least. She was traumatized starting bawling and wouldn't go down again. She says,"Sledding is no fun with snow in your face." Truth.

The girls warming up and drying off together.

First Birthday Happenings (February 2012)

For Little Darlin's first birthday, we took a trip down to Greensboro to a petting zoo/discovery museum. (Actually we had planned to go to a specific children's museum, drove 45 minutes down there and found out it was closed on Mondays - ugh. Luckily we had some internet service on the phone and found this place as a secondary on the fly. Turned out to be better than the original plan.)

Breakfast pancakes - as requested!

And the eating of the CHOCOLATE cupcakes (also as requested)
- what can I say, this girl LOVES to eat (just like her mama . . . ahem).

Matching pajamas as a birthday gift from Nana AND squeezing into a box that contained a birthday present from the mail.

AND a purple (her favorite color) birthday party to celebrate!

I try to make the cakes for birthdays because I am a foodie naturalist and I want to KNOW what ingredients are in my cakes . . . BUT my decorating skills leave something to be desired (2013 cake was much better, but I may just have to take a cake decorating class at some point).

Still delicious!

 Gotta love those birthday kisses!

AND some post-party decoration chewing :)
