A couple of weeks ago we traveled up to Charleston, WV to celebrate 80
th birthdays of both of David's grandparents. Although it is really nice to be able to spend some quality time with family, actually visiting Grandma and Grandad
I's house with a 2 year old is a bit of a
nightmare. There are breakable (glass, pottery, pictures, ceramics, etc.) items EVERYWHERE and high, steep stairs in several places. I basically follow her around for the first hour reminding her, "Not that, don't touch, and careful." Turned out she did really well this time and mostly focused on 1) the more hardy dog statue (in the back of the pictures) and 2) a plastic piggy bank with the stopper out (that she continued to try and put money in for 20 minutes).
This is the result of Grandpa Joe saying,"Ella smile" - instead she covered both her eyes and looked away and as soon as the flash went off she looked back at him and grinned. What a PEANUT!!

Grandma and Grandad I

Hanging out with Ella on the back porch so she could release some energy in a "less fragile" environment.

Practicing her "exercises" - like mommy does (or did . . . ., or plans on . . . ., or whatever)

Picking Hickory Nuts with Grandma and Grandpa

Watching the ants on the porch - she was
fascinated

My little fall beauty queen!!
