One of our outing days was to the African Animal Safari Park just a little ways down the road. It was actually a really neat park with tons of animals to look at and sooo many big cats (my favorite to watch). Unfortunately the day we decided to go it was 95 degrees outside with very little shade and we were all slowly melting. Here's a bit of what we saw before we couldn't take the heat anymore.

They also had a "show and tell" where you could come in and pet the monitor and tortoise after the presentation. Ella was VERY nervous about touching them at first, but once she was brave enough to try it she giggled and patted them over and over.
We went to a local cafe afterwards for some great sandwiches and even better pie - Ella examined the menu very closely before choosing the standard grilled cheese and fruit.
Here we are at Montezuma's Castle - one of the great Sinagua Indian remains of the area - I can't imagine having to climb so high to get home every day.
Another of our days, David and Dad went out panning for gold in some local creeks (and did get a tiny flake or two) and mom and I took Ella to the local zoo and met up with a friend of mom's and her daughter that was about the same age. Ella LOVEs making new friends.
And sharing her new friend's goldfish . .. .

AND finally to the SPLASH PARK - Both girls entered cautiously and got sprayed right in the face. The other little girl decided that was enough, but not Ella - she ran and played in the water and endured shot and shot of water directly in the face . . . . silly girl.
